Parent Teacher Association
In the Hope we have been fortunate to have an active Parent Teacher Association. Members have supported the school and organised both fund raising activities and social events for the school community. This year they set a target of raising £2000 to provide additional playground furniture for the school. With a busy Quiz Night and a successful Flower Bulb campaign they have been able to purchase a picnic table, a wooden playhouse and recently a Viking boat. We hope to see these installed some time during the summer term.
School Board
In addition to the P.T.A. there has also been an opportunity for parents to participate in the life of the school by serving on the School Board. A committee made up of parents, staff, local community representatives and Education Authority personnel have met with the Head to discuss school developments.
New Parent Council
Both these parent bodies are currently under review following the Scottish Schools Parental Involvement Act of 2006. This Act aims to encourage the involvement of all parents in their children's education. Every parent automatically becomes a member of the Parent Forum and is entitled to have a say in what happens in school. From this Parent Forum, a new Parent Council will be formed. Parents can decide on the structure and format of their own Parent Forum.
The Hope School is part way through this transition process. We are currently in the process of structuring our new Parent Council. Watch this space for further developments.
